Talamasca: A Good Marriage of Spy Thriller With Horror

I was disappointed to learn of the cancellation of Talamasca, the recent Horror Series in AMC's Immortal Universe Franchise based on the novels of Anne Rice.

I am not a Rice expert. Apparently, according to some Rice Scholars and Enthusiasts, the series was not exactly representative of the Rice Corpus. 

This is why, they say, it "failed".

It did not fail. Talamasca was a good show. It was well-run, well-written, well-acted, well-shot. 

People new to Anne Rice will likely enjoy the series. It could have served to expand Rice's audience. 

It was a kind of gothic horror version of The Americans. 

I think that is a winning combination. A Gothic Horror Spy series. 

Because of the contractual complications attendant to "Universe" franchises, I doubt Talamasca will be picked up by another network or streaming service. Because it legally can't. 

But I would hire this creative team to do the exact same thing they did with Talamasca. Only do it in "another universe". 

Bring them back, somebody.

And if not, Talamasca will hopefully inspire more Gothic Horror Spy Thrillers in the future.
