People think the Id Monster was in Forbidden Planet.
But up from the depths of the primal unconscious surfaces the Gill Man. A Man obsessed with finding a mate.
"Even I--Lucas--have heard de tales of de Gill Mon."
There's a love triangle between Richard Denning, Richard Carlson, and Julia (a.k.a. Julie) Adams.
But the Gill Man doesn't bother with the human chumps. He just takes his woman. Like a Hero in a Barbara Cartland fantasy.
He fully intends to rip a bodice. But there is only a white bathing suit.
So he carries her off to his cave for a mating ritual.
But the Gill Man is shot by supposedly civilized Human Chumps. He is left for dead.
While the exanguinated civilized Anglo Saxon Zombies, who wouldn't know life if it kissed them in the spear gun, make off with his mate.
Never to return. (Though eventually the Creature DOES get the girl.)
So this week's Dig is into the tumultuous waters of the Black Lagoon.
In search of the erotic masterpiece that was vacuum packed into a letter box of simmering repression.
